The Barwon River Medical Centre in Brewarrina has received a High Commendation at the Regional Business Awards in Bourke. The regional Business Awards cover a large portion of Western New South Wales, including Walgett, Bourke, Coonamble, Mudgee, Narromine, Coonabarabran, Gulargumbone and Cobar. Having raised over $90,000 for cancer research in 2007, the annual Collarenebri Charity Bike Ride is back to do it again! The ride consists of a gruelling 90 kilometre bike ride from Mungindi QLD to Collarenebri NSW. Dr Obinna Ekeocha started as a GP in Lightning Ridge at the Ridge Medical Centre. He will also be covering the roster for the Lightning Ridge Multi Purpose Service. This course qualifies for the Emergency Medicine & Anaesthetic Procedural Training Grant. The objective of the program is to encourage and support general practice in delivering rapid, measureable, systematic and sustainable improvements in the care they deliver to patients. This is an exciting opportunity for the medical centres in Bourke, Brewarrina and Coonamble to participate. The first workshop was held in Sydney on June the 20th and 21st, and was a great experience for the participants.
