Cunnamulla is a town of 1500 people on the Warrego River 800km west of Brisbane and about 100km north of the NSW boarder. It is about eight hours drive west from Toowoomba. There is a twice weekly flight from Brisbane to Cunnamulla via Toowoomba (on a Sunday and a Wednesday).

Cunnamulla is well known from the classic country western song Cunnamulla Fella by the late Slim Dusty. The Cunnamulla Fella Festival takes place in Cunnamulla every November and includes country music, a rodeo and bush poetry.

The Cunnamulla Medical Centre is the only medical centre in town and engages two doctors.

The Cunnamulla Hospital has an on call roster for acute presentations, and average up to 10 presentations to the doctor per day. The on call roster is shared between the two doctors at the Cunnamulla Medical Centre.

Cunnamulla qualifies for an annual Medicare Retention Grant of $25,000 after 1 year (defined as 4 active quarters).

There are two hotels for locums to stay in at Cunnamulla.
