Objectives of Kini Health

Ochre Health established Kini Health in 2005 as a not-for-profit entity with tax deductable status that provides allied health services to remote communities.

The purpose and objectives of Kini Health are comprehensively expressed in Clause 2 “Objects” of its company constitution:

The objects for which Kini Limited is established are:

The prevention and control of diseases in human beings will be the primary activity of the Company and its specific objectives in relation to its primary activity will be those set out immediately below in this Article;

To  identify Australian communities with unmet needs for allied health, dental, medical and related services;

To promote the maintenance of optimal health status and improve health outcomes for frail, disabled and elderly people through the provision of allied health, dental, personal development, medical and related services;

To secure grant and subsidy funding from, and partnership arrangements with, government agencies, health and welfare organisations and other organisations and individuals to support the provision of health services;

To secure donations to support the provision of services:

Provide health and related services to meet the needs of rural communities, disabled, infirmed, aged and disadvantaged persons at no cost to patients and clients;

To ensure open and non-discriminatory access is provided to the client services delivered; as well as delivering services in accordance with any contractual and grant obligations required of government and other funding agencies and organisations;

To provide scholarships to aboriginal or rural students to pursue careers as health professionals in rural and remote areas of Australia;

To support the provision of health provider services in rural and remote communities, and as a consequence, to assist communities to recruit and retain medical practitioners; and

To apply any financial surplus to the improvement of medical and health services to the community or in accordance with this Constitution.”

Governance

Kini Limited has its own Board of Directors. Kini Limited is not owned by the Ochre Health Group as it is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. Kini Limited trades as Kini Health. Any surplus funds in Kini Limited must applied for its constitutional purposes and are used to provide more health services.

The role of the Board is to ensure the effective governance. It is charged with providing leadership, ensuring quality of services, developing strategy and policy, complying with contracts and laws, risk management, compliance with laws and funding agreements, maintaining industry relationships and financial monitoring.
Kini Limited is independently audited each financial year.
