Grafton GPSuperclinicThe Ochre Health Foundation has successfully applied to the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing to develop and operate a GP Super Clinic in Grafton NSW. A Funding Agreement was signed on 25 June 2009 under which the Department provides $5.5M to acquire land, design and build a health clinic, and purchase clinical equipment. The Commonwealth Government is establishing over 30 GP Super Clinics throughout Australia to create primary care clinics that deliver multi-disciplinary services and which support health professional education. The overall aim of GP Super Clinics is to bring together general practitioners, practice nurses, visiting specialists, allied health professionals and other health care providers to provide integrated care that meets the needs of local communities and is focused on chronic disease management and prevention. A development application was approved by Clarence Valley Council in March 2010 and the facility design process has commenced. Construction is planned to start approximately August 2010. |
