Located in a busy shopping centre the Ochre Health Medical Centre Calwell opened in July 2011 with two doctors, the Calwell practice and has grown successfully to seven doctors with room to increase to ten over time. Ochre Health Calwell is an AGPAL Accredited Private billing General Practice. This practice is committed to providing comprehensive General Practice care to all individuals and families in this community.

Ochre Health Medical Centre Calwell has been established with financial assistance from the Australian Federal Government under the Superclinics program.

Monday – Friday: 8:00am to 6:00pm
Saturday: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Closed Sundays and public holidays

After Hours
If the doctors are unavailable, you may contact CALMS (Canberra After Hours Locum Medical Service) on 1300 422 567 for an alternative arrangement. CALMS in an accredited deputising medical service run by Canberra GPs (including your doctor) to provide quality AH cover all over Canberra with adequate feedback to your doctor.

Dr. Paresh Dawda (MBBS, DRCOG, DFRSH, FRCGP, FRACGP) – Medical Director ACT GP Super Clinic
Dr. Paresh Dawda is an experienced GP who provides the full range of General Practice services. These include assessment of symptoms, investigations and referrals as appropriate, management plans and team care arrangements for people with long term conditions, mental health plans, work cover consultations, minor surgical procedures, family planning including contraceptive implants, health promotion and prevention including obesity, smoking cessation, baby checks and antenatal and postnatal shared care.

Dr. Deepica Amarasuriya (MBChB; Dip Obst; FRACGP) – General Practitioner
Deepica has over 20 years experience as a Canberra GP and joined Ochre Health in 2011.
She completed her Bachelor of medicine and Surgery at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She Obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics in 1990 and gained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 1994.
Specialty interest areas: Women’s health including ante natal and post natal care, Child health, Oncology and preventative health.

Dr. Ram Vepuri (MBBS, MRCGP, FRACGP) – General Practitioner
Dr Ram Vepuri completed his general practice training in the UK and brings with him a wealth of experience. Ram relocated to Australia to begin work at our Calwell practice in July 2015, following a four year stint within an Emergency Department in England. Ram has extensive knowledge in sports and minor injuries along with orthopaedic experience.
Ram is available full time in Calwell, Monday – Friday. 8:30am-6:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am-12:00pm.
Specialty interest areas: Mental Health, Chronic Diseases and Palliative Care. 

Dr. Cassandra Harris (BMedSci, Hons +1, MBBS) – General Practitioner
Dr Cassandra Harris joins us in Calwell, having a scientific research background from Canberra.
She completed her training at the ANU then proceeded to work in the local area, most recently at the Airport General Practice.
Specialty interest areas: Dermatology and Obstetrics.

Dr. Deirdre Clink (MBChB, FRNZCGP) – General Practitioner
Dr Deirdre Clink was born in Scotland and emigrated to New Zealand in 1995 and completed her GP Training. In 2012, she moved to Canberra and has since been working full time, Monday to Friday.
Dr Clink enjoys all aspects of general practice but particularly enjoys managing chronic diseases, as well as women’s health. Outside of the practice, she likes music and painting.
Specialty interest areas: Chronic Disease Management & Women’s Health.

Dr. Nicola Murphy (BMBS) – General Practitioner
Dr Nicola Murphy completed her Medical Degree from Flinders University in Adelaide. She then finished her GP Training in Canberra and joined the team in Calwell from February 2017.
Specialty interest areas: All Aspects of General Practice especially Women’s Health.

Dr. Muhammad Saidul Islam (MBBS, MMED (Geriatrics)) – General Practitioner
Dr Islam has worked at a NSW Hospital for 11 years in various Medical Specialties. He completed level 2 Mental Health Training in November 2015 and is an Accredited HCV Prescriber since 2014. Dr Islam enjoys travelling and watching cricket.
Specialty interest areas: Geriatrics, Hep C Rx, Mental Health, addiction Medicine & Pain Medicine.

Dr Patryjca Car (MBBS, DCh) – General Practitioner Registrar
Dr Car graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2009. Since then, she has worked at a number of hospitals and general practices in NSW, QLD, and most recently in ACT. Patryjca completed her Diploma of Child Health in 2016. She has two children, aged 2 and 5.
Specialty interest areas: Paediatrics, Antenatal Care and Aboriginal Health
Dr Car will be working part time.

Calwell is a suburb of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, and is about 17 kms from ACT’s capital city of Canberra. In the 2011 Census the population of Calwell was 5,833. The suburb was named after the Labor politician, Arthur Augustus Calwell, PC (1896-1973). The suburb name was gazetted 5 August 1975.
