Free Health Assessment for 45-49s

Don’t let Type 2 Diabetes sneak up on you – book a free health assessment today!

Ochre Health supports National Diabetes Week, which runs from the 8th to the 14th of July. This year’s theme is “It’s About Time” that we detected silent, undiagnosed type 2 Diabetes.

The reason for this is that up to 500,000 Australians are living with silent, undiagnosed type 2 Diabetes. It is possible to have type 2 Diabetes for up to seven years before it is diagnosed. During this time, type 2 Diabetes may be damaging blood vessels and nerves, causing vision loss, heart attacks, stroke and kidney damage.

Often Diabetes develops when someone is in their 40s. As part of Diabetes week, we would like to invite our regular patients between the ages of 45 and 49 to make an appointment for a Health Assessment.

Who qualifies for a Health Assessment?

Anyone between the ages of 45 and 49 that has at least one risk factor for chronic disease is eligible for a Health Assessment.

Risk factors can include:

  • Lifestyle risk factors, such as smoking, physical inactivity, poor nutrition or alcohol abuse.
  • Biomedical risk factors, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, impaired glucose metabolism or excess weight.
  • A family history of a chronic disease.

What is a Health Assessment?

This is a special service funded by Medicare, and we are able to Bulk Bill this for you. A Health Assessment is a 40 – 60 minute visit to both the nurse and the doctor. This will allow for a comprehensive review of your past medical history, an examination, and an assessment of any risk factors.

We will do a questionnaire regarding your risk for diabetes. If you would like to do the questionnaire prior to attending for a health assessment, please click here.

You will also be able to set some plans or goals for your health with the nurse and doctor, and you will get a printed copy of the Health Assessment at the end of the appointment to take home. You can book follow up appointments as and if needed.
