Our Latest Intern

Dr Eliza Nolan

Where are you from?

Where did you do your medical degree?
At UTas, with my clinical years at the RHH

What made you decide on medicine as a career?
I loved science at school, and wanted to do medical research ever since I learned that a family friend had MS, and that there was no cure for it. When I found out I could be a doctor and do medical research at the same time, I decided that was the path for me.

What did you do before pursuing a medical career?
I came to medicine straight from high school, but during the course of my degree I took a year off to travel and did an honours year during which time I conducted research into Perinatal Depression screening at the RHH.

What specialties interest you?
I am passionate about women’s and children’s health – in the long term I would like to train to be a paediatrician

What do you think you will enjoy and gain from your rural placement?
I’m looking forward to spending some time away from the hospital working on and gaining experience in a greater breadth of healthcare priorities, including health promotion and primary prevention.

What are your impressions Scottsdale?
I don’t know much about the Scottsdale region, but my friends who have worked there have loved it! I’m looking forward to spending time there and learning all about it!
