The Opportunity

We have an excellent opportunity for a Rural General Practitioner to bring their skills to country Australia. With a recent internal transfer we are looking for a General Practitioner who interested in working at a busy practice and can focus on chronic disease management.

Ochre Medical Centre Parkes is a large medical centre, which was established over 50 years ago. This practice has allied/specialist health rooms, on-site pathology and a three-way treatment room for minor procedures. In addition, our nursing team is available for immunisations, vaccinations, BP monitoring, INR monitoring, ECG’s, health assessments & chronic disease management.

There are further opportunities to contribute to the VMO services at Parkes hospital, if desired. You will be well supported by working with experienced team of GPs VMO, nurses and allied health specialists. The hospital on-call shifts are from 8am to 6pm with night shifts available; with a steady flow of presentations averaging 30 to 35 per day.   • High dollar consult clinic ($400 p/hr) – 65% of billings
  • 75% of billings for first three months
  • $35k incentive payment paid on start date
  • Relocation/Rental assistance provided for 12 months

  • Eligible for RVTS, ACRRM IP, RACGP PEP/FSP – GP Training Pathway
  • Open to MDRAP bridging program with the RDN
  • Opportunity to join VMO on-call roster (8am to 6pm) – daily rate over $2,000 per shift
  • On and off-site operational and clinical management support
  • Optional Procedural ED/Anaesthetics at Lachlan Health Services
  • Practice is supported by visiting allied health, and Registered Nurses to assist with CDM, immunizations and women’s health

Life in Parkes

Parkes is a rural town in central New South Wales which boasts a lively, contemporary atmosphere and a diverse range of local attractions which make the town a major tourist destination. Parkes is an important location for the Australian scientific community, as it is home to the CSIRO Parkes Observatory, as well as the iconic CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope (“the Dish”).

The adjoining Visitor Discovery Centre is popular with tourists travelling through central New South Wales, eager to learn about astronomy and Australia’s role in space exploration, and visit the main feature of the classic Australian comedy film “The Dish.”

Parkes has a population of around 10,000. The primary industries in the district include a variety of agriculture and mining, and the region boasts a warm temperate climate and fabulous parklands. Suitability

  • Currently holding AHPRA General Registration or FRACGP/FRACRRM Fellowship
