GP/VMO – King Island

Outstanding opportunity for an experienced rural generalist (GP/VMO) to work on stunning King Island.

Working alongside an experienced vocationally registered GP/VMO, you will work a minimum of 9 sessions in general practice each week and provide on-call services to the hospital.

The new Rural Generalist (GP/VMO) will take over an existing patient base from a departing GP and can expect to see 25+ patients per day. You will receive on and offsite operational and clinical management support.

About the Practice and Hospital

The practice is the only medical centre on King Island and there is high demand for permanent doctors after an extensive period of locum cover in the town.

Working alongside one experienced rural generalist (GP/VMO), you will receive excellent nursing and administrative support and provide on call services to the hospital.

About the Town

King Island is classified as an RA5 location and is eligible for the highest rural retention grants ($25,000 per year). It is a recognised District of Workforce Shortage (DWS),  and practitioners are eligible for ROMPs payments, as well as gaining access to the RLRP, RVTS and ACRRM Independent Pathway GP training programs.

Requirements:

  • General Registration or above with AHPRA
  • Proficient with common general practice conditions
  • Current emergency medicine certificate (APLS, ELS etc.) and recent experience in an unsupervised setting
