The Opportunity

Ochre Health are currently fielding applications from experienced and capable General Practitioners interested in working on Tasmanian’s West Coast.

Ochre Health are the primary healthcare provider throughout the region, operating the medical centres in Strahan, Zeehan, Queenstown, Rosebery, as well as providing on-call services to the Queenstown Hospital. We currently have a number of vacancies across these locations.

The Location

Tasmania’s West Coast is a world apart – a string of vibrant and close-knit communities, surrounded on all sides by Gondwanan cool-temperate rainforest that is quite unique on the world stage.

The West Coast towns of Zeehan, Strahan, Rosebery and Queenstown are all a short 20-30 minute drive from one-another. Between them, they provide all the conveniences of a larger centre, with a number of entertainment options such as the historic Zeehan Theatre or the Strahan Gold Club. The West Coast’s primary industries have historically been centred on mining and specialty timbers; however, recent years have seen a surge in tourism ventures throughout the region.

The West Coast boasts a rich offering of leisure and adventure activities. The historic West Coast Wilderness Railway is a fascinating mix of pristine rainforest and colonial engineering, and the West Coast Heritage Centre is a treasure trove of information for those interested in the pioneering past of the area. Out of Strahan, there are also a number of boating options available, including Gordon River day cruises and fishing boat charters.
